Shipping & Pick-Up

WHERE WE SHIP

Due to individual state legislation, certain states do not allow the transport of wine across state lines. As archaic as this is, your ire is best served by writing your state representative to let them know we indeed live in year 2010, not 1810. If you do not see your state listed here, please send Melisa a note to arrange shipping to an appropriate address.

You never pay sales tax unless you reside one of the following states: Washington, New Hampshire, Vermont, or Virginia. There are “dry” counties in New Hampshire and Tennessee; if you live in those states, please be aware of your county’s restrictions when placing your order.

ORDER STATUS

You can monitor the status of your orders using the OARS link at the bottom of each email offer. Once the status is listed on your OARS account as “arrived,” the order is ready to be shipped or picked up.

SHIPPING SEASONS

We only ship twice per year, during spring and fall, in order to minimize exposure. Out-of-state orders will be held for free (whether you amass 6 pallets or 6 bottles) under ideal storage conditions (56 degrees/70% humidity) until shipping is possible. Preserving the provenance of your wine is of the utmost importance to us. For this reason, we will not ship during inclement weather. If you have any questions about this procedure, please contact Melisa.

IT IS OUR POLICY TO HOLD YOUR ORDERS UNTIL YOU HAVE PURCHASED A FULL 12-BOTTLE CASE. In other words, you may order 1 bottle at a time, but we will not ship your wine until you have ordered 12 total bottles (even if it takes you two years). We do this to save you shipping costs and to make our warehouse more efficient.

If you wish to have your wine released prior to a full 12-pack, please let us know by sending a note with your name and the statement, “Please release my wine even if I have less than a 12-pack” to melisa@garagistewine.com.

PICK-UP

If you would like to pick up an order, please use the form on the website. We appreciate 24-hour notice for any pick-up, but we understand if you happen to be in the neighborhood on last-minute notice. We will try our best to accommodate your request, but we cannot guarantee a pick-up appointment without 24-hour notice.

Once you schedule the pick-up, the status of your “arrived” wines will then be switched to “shipped” on your OARS, which, in this instance, means it’s been removed from inventory and staged for your appointment. Please allow for some extra time when you are picking up as we want to make sure you receive all available wines in the number you ordered. If you have any question about a pick-up, please email pickup@garagistewine.com.

While you’re picking up your order, you can now peruse the shelves of our small retail area—unique wine and food finds (with tasting notes) from around the world that can only be purchased in our warehouse. Just passing through Seattle or visiting from out of state? Stop by. You just might stumble upon something special.

Warehouse Hours for Pick-up:

Saturday, 10am to 2pm
Sunday and Monday, Closed

FOOD PRODUCTS

The specialty foods that we sell have expiration dates, so it is important that you pick them up in a timely manner. We suggest, in general, within 30 days of arrival—the sooner the better for highest quality.

IMPORTANT

Many of the wines we offer are pre-arrivals.

We have an exemplary record of delivery on all wine we offer, whether in-stock or pre-arrival, thus our consecutive nominations as National Wine Retailer of the Year—the only retailer in the U.S. to receive such an honor.

We do the best we can in each email offer to approximate the expected date of arrival, but this is not exact—it can vary by weeks, months, or even a year or more due to winemaker walkabout, honeymoons, unexpected dock strikes, or other factors out of our control. While we work around the clock to ensure your wine arrives to us in the most expeditious manner possible, due to the small business aspect of most of our producers, the biggest source of frustration for our customers is the long lag-time in the receipt of shipments. Even though we approximate arrival dates, ultimately, we have no control over the release date imposed by a winemaker if he/she simply changes his/her mind after the fact (it happens). WE WANT YOU TO GET YOUR WINE, and you will, but you may occasionally have to wait longer than you wish. As they say, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder"...

After the wine arrives in our warehouse:

You will receive all of your in-stock wine twice per year. If you do not have full 12-packs, the straggler bottles will roll over into the next shipping season until you have 12 bottles total to ship. With that in mind, Garagiste is not liable for late arrivals or missed birthdays, special occasions, or shipping windows.

By purchasing wine from us, you acknowledge that pre-arrival schedules are not guaranteed and are in a constant state of flux. The good news is that we work harder than anyone to ensure your wine is shipped to you at the very earliest date possible—all with the finest provenance.
